Founded in 2007 the Global Association for the Advancement of Undead People to protect the dwindling rights of the undead. Facing persecution at every level of their unlives from governments, religious groups, the media, and even everyday citizens the GAAUP is the only refuge that the undead have left. While only a young organization and not yet a powerful lobbying force, GAAUP is proud to serve the community in whatever capacity it can.

Still serving as the first President of GAUUP, Jeff Van Booven has been instrumental in keeping the organization afloat in these early years. His leadership helped to establish the very foundation of GAAUP. With just a few members and a limited budget, GAAUP has placed an emphasis on community projects as well as fighting a war of information to combat the negative stereotypes perpetuated in Hollywood and elsewhere. GAAUP hopes to one day regain the rights that the undead have lost throughout the years.

The undead are not just mindless killing machines that feast on brains. They are adept and well-adjusted citizens. They're your neighbors or everyday, run of the mill gardener. The undead are, in fact, incredible gardeners; and, while most people would have you believe that they feast upon brains, their diet consists mostly of watermelon and various other fruits and vegetables.

In 2009 GAAUP began to expand its operations. It added the Zombie Defense Research Laboratory in order to better prepare the the world for a potential apocalypse, if not prevent one. GAAUP hopes that by scientifically documenting zombies and the cause of zombification it will help define the difference between zombies and the undead in the eyes of the public. GAAUP is also launching Brains!, named after the song by Jonathan Coulton, a scientific journal dedicated to academic research about zombies and the undead.

GAAUP looks forward to the coming years and to what it can accomplish for the undead or even the future dead. President Van Booven extends his welcome and hopes that you'll consider joining GAAUP in its fight for the rights of the undead.

Remember, the undead were people too.
